    Massive Early 18th Century Scottish Basket Hilt Broadsword. 39-inches overall with 33 1/4-inch double edged blade, 1 7/8-inch wide at the base. Three deep narrow central fullers, the flanking fullers just slightly shorter than the one in the center. Marked on both sides above the central fuller with the three feathered head dress signifying the Prince of Wales with a large "W" above. Large heavy basket composed of separate pieces then forged together.. Large piercing's in the center section of the basket profusely embellished on the edges with hand cut decoration. Sides of the basket include heavy undecorated S shaped piercing's. Dome shaped pommel constructed without a capstan and decorated with eight deep incised lines. Leather covered grip with brass wire.
    Condition: Very good. Blade generally smooth and grey with some very minor scattered salt and peppering. Interior of basket with deep, dark untouched patina, the exterior smooth and grey, with salt and peppering. Leather is good.
