    Lot of Three U.S. Militia Swords: Militia Officer, Circa 1850s, New York Guard NCO, Circa 1850s and Militia Officer, Circa 1870s. Include: 1) New York Guard NCO sword with a 24 ¾" double-edge blade, bone handle and gilded-brass hilt with helmet pommel. Lacks scabbard. Blade with a smooth gray patina and with traces of etching. Hilt cleaned. Pommel loose on grip, else in good condition. 2) Militia officers' sword with a straight, double-edged 33 ¾" blade marked "IRON PROOF". The blade is ornately etched on each side with panoplies of arms, scroll decoration and "U.S." and accented with gilt. Gilded-brass cross quillons and pommel cast in the form of an eagle with an extremely long neck. Bone grips with simple incised decoration. Lacks scabbard. Blade with a few scattered dark spots, else very good condition. 3) 1870s Militia officers' sword with a 28 ¼" straight, double-edged blade. Gilded-brass quillon cast in the form of a spread-wing eagle. Pommel with floral decoration and eagle. Bone handle. Metal scabbard with gilded-brass mount and drag. Blade with a smooth brown patina. Grip and pommel loose. Scabbard with shallow dents and with paint loss, else good condition.
