    Description

    Lot of Three U.S. Military Swords. Comprising: 1.) Model 1852 Naval Officers sword with a 29-inch double-etched blade. The obverse ricasso is marked with a "Proved" stamp. Gilded-brass hilt with wire-wrapped fish skin grips. Black leather scabbard with gilded-brass mounts. 2.) 1872 Cavalry Officers sword. 32 ¾-inch slightly curved blade, etched on either side with military motifs and foliate patterns. Plated scabbard with two mounting rings. 3.) German-made enlisted non-regulation sword. 29 ¾-inch curved blade with a walking bear logo and "Made in Germany" on the obverse ricasso and the number "55" stamped on the reverse ricasso. Brass hilt. Wire-wrapped leather grips. Plated scabbard with brass throat and drag.

    Condition: 1.) Good. Lower portion of blade has either been sharpened or buffed obscuring some of the engraving detail; hilt a bit loose on the blade; scabbard exhibits an old leather repair. 2.) Good. Blade with a mottled dark patina; lacking leather cover on the grip and the outer branch of the guard. Scabbard lacking throat. 3.) Very good. Scattered dark spots on the blade; some of the grip leather has worn off; scabbard with light surface rust and spotting.
