    Description

    Japanese Wood-Handled Artillery Sword. 21 ¼-inch single-edge blade with false edge running 4 ½-inches from the tip and with single large fuller on the obverse side; 26-inches overall. Tokyo Artillery Arsenal marked blade and dated Meiji 26 (1893). Cast steel pommel and cross guard. Wood handle attached with two steel rivets. Leather throat washer. All fittings painted black. Black leather scabbard, stitched on the back with black painted sheet metal throat and tip.

    Condition: Very good. Bright blade with some shallow pitting from scabbard storage. Fittings retain the majority of the original black paint. Leather on scabbard supple with some loose stitching on the reverse side.
