    Description

Imperial Russian Arsenal Copy of the French Model XI Light Cavalry Saber. 34 ½" heavy curved blade with a gilded-brass pommel, back strap, and three branch guard. Various proofs are found on the sword including a "G", "H" and "12" within circles on one branch of the guard and numerous proofs on the obverse ricasso. The back of the sword is maker marked and dated 1834. The hilt has distinctive narrow langets and oval brass button on the grip. The blade has a dark gray patina and displays areas of light surface rust. The grip retains the leather wrap. A very good example sold without scabbard.
