    Description

Exceptional U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber Manufactured by Ames. 35" bright, slightly curved blade marked "US / M.M. / 1864" on the obverse ricasso and with the Ames three-line address on the reverse. Wire-wrapped leather grip. Brass guard and pommel. Metal scabbard with two suspension rings. The blade is unblemished and retains its original luster. The brass furniture is nicely patinated and the leather on the grip is modestly worn. The scabbard has a coating of surface rust, otherwise this is an excellent example.
