Classic Form American Revolutionary War Officer's Saber. In superb condition, with dark untouched patina overall. Wide, 1 1/2" at the base, flat blade with a single, rather crude, narrow fuller along the top edge. Blade dark and smooth with just some minor rounding at the tip and a few scattered areas of light pitting. Uniquely, the blade exhibits some rudimentary engraved floral/scroll decoration, along with a panoply of arms, 3" from the base. The blade is clearly entirely hand forged, and very obviously American. All brass hilt about perfect with dark untouched patina overall. Ball pommel with capstan. The knucklebow splits at the base forming a guard utilizing the classic American 'wagon wheel' form with six 'spokes'. The quillon is a large turned down triangle, actually reminiscent of a heart. Plain wood grip grip with brass ferrules at top and bottom, also with very nice untouched patina. There is no scabbard. A really wonderful American sword from the period of the Revolution.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
