    Description

    Civil War German Made Non-Regulation Officers' Sword. 32 ¼-inch slightly curved, bright blade etched on the obverse side with a spread-wing eagle with shield on breast and riband above, surrounded by rays and flanked by scroll work; the reverse side features a very elaborate large "US" flanked by scrollwork. Obverse ricasso with unidentified Solingen maker's mark. Sheet-iron guard with cut out American eagle perched on the letters "US" and surmounted by a ribbon bearing the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Fish skin covered grips with wire wrapping. Iron scabbard with two mounting rings.

    Condition: Very good in a good scabbard. Blade remains bright with some occasional dark age spots. Light surface rust to guard. Lacking one small area of the fish skin on the grip. Scabbard with moderate to heavy dents. Missing the throat screw.
