Another Of The Finest US M1840 Heavy Cavalry Sabers We've Ever Cataloged. Sword overall completely untouched. Blade overall about mint retaining 98% of the original luster with just a few negligible scratches. Deep scrip Ames and Inspectors' marks with 1846 date. Retains the original leather washer with just a couple of very minor chips. Hilt about perfect, untouched with very nice patina and tight twisted brass wire wrap, just one very minor age hairline with no loss. Scabbard about perfect with no dents or dings, smooth darks patina and just some very minor and very light pots of light red surface rust, easily cleaned. A superb example and, again, especially desirable with this Mexican War date.
