    Description

    Ames U.S. Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber.
    35 ¾-inch single-edged slightly curved blade. Obverse marked "US / WD"; reverse with the Ames Cabotville logo and dated 1849. Gilded-brass hilt with wire-wrapped leather grips. Iron scabbard with two mounting rings.

    Condition: About very good. Blade relatively bright with some mottled dark spots, pitting and chips in the cutting edge.
