American Officer's Saber C. 1780 - 1800 32" curved blade with single narrow fuller along the top to within 9" of the tip, which has a small chip. Deep dark untouched patina with some median pitting for a few inches in the center, along with a couple of nicks, else smooth. Rather heavy brass stirrup shaped hilt with large heavy disc pommel. Flat cap pommel, notched on the face to accept the knuckle bow, with capstan. Ribbed cherry wood grip with nice rich patina, shaped to fit the hand with a 1/4" brass ferrule with line decoration at the base. Typical of the American swords that evolved from the Revolution into the Federal Period.
