    A Handsome Japanese Matchlock (Tanegashima) from Sakai with Well Inlaid Breech.

    Approximately .45 caliber, 39 1/2-inch barrel. Slender barrel, well inlaid with a carp and prunus branches. The figured stick with numerous engraved brass inlays on butt including one of a samurai stabbing a fierce boar. The Sakai helmet adorns the breech-band.

    Condition: Walnut stock in good condition with the exception of a 12 cm. replaced piece just ahead of the fence. There is a chip at the breech. Bore good. Action does not hold cocked.
