    19th Century Scottish Basket Hilt Broadsword.
    40-inches in overall length, with a 34-inch double edge blade with two flanking fullers extend two inches from the hilt and two others mid-way down the sword. Blade marked ROBMOLE & SON on one side and a proof inset on the other. Blade edge marked M 2807 MOLE. Lightly etched with floral pattern and crown on both sides. Basket composed of pieces forged together, pierced with cut decorations and hearts. Two branches at the bottom rear of the basket extend down approximately 1-inch on to the blade area. Pommel decorated with incised lines and with capstan. Sharkskin grip wrapped with brass wire. Red velour and leather basket cover. Contained in brown leather scabbard.

    Condition: Very good. Showing age wear and some cleaning. Blade and basket might have been put together. A brown patina and pitting shadows the basket inside and out, while the blade appears to have been buffed and/or cleaned. Scabbard with some scuffs and scratches overall. Inside leather lining to basket in poor condition. Grip with separations and scuffs.
