    Description

18th Century American Officer's Saber. 29 1/2" curved blade with single narrow fuller along the top edge terminating 10" from the tip. Blade really excellent with light gray smooth patina and just some light scattered staining. Retains the original heavy leather washer. Recurved round faced brass knuckle bow with slot for sword knot, extends to the pommel with the flared top actually serving as the pommel, and terminating in a disc quillon. Brown leather grip with brass ferrule at the base, exhibits unusually wide spirals and shows signs of having been wrapped with twisted brass wire. Hilt overall near perfect with just a couple of tiny cracks in the leather wrap. Nice example of an American sword from this transitional period between the Revolution and the 19th century.
