Superb Condition Non-Regulation Civil War Officer's Saber By F. Horster. 32" curved blade about mint retaining 98% of the original brilliant luster. Etched for 2/3 its length with arms panoplies, scrollwork, spread wing eagle surmounted by riband with motto and in tiny hand engraved script "Fr. Horster" at the bottom of the blade on the obverse. Scroll motifs, arms panoplies, large block U. S. in the center and at the base of the blade "Solingen" in very finely engraved script. Etching highlighted with hand engraved details and an absolutely stunning blade. The blade retains the original leather washer. The all brass hilt incorporates two outboard branches and is slotted for a knot. Fluted bird head pommel with full backstrap with geometric decoration, disc quillon. There is a large folding reverse counterguard elaborately pierced with scroll. Sharkskin grip with triple wire wrap with 3/8" decorative ferrule at the base. Hilt and grip overall about perfect, the folding counterguard works perfectly. Plain German silver scabbard with stepped screw fastened throat and iron drag also about perfect, just a few tiny dings near the tip. Scarce form and really beautiful condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
