    Description

Slimmed and Shortened For Confederate Use - 1st Model Virginia Manufactory Horseman's 32 3/4" curved blade, chip missing from the tip, generally smooth and gray with some scattered areas of old dry rust and some light pitting, no nicks. Blade is totally unmarked. Hilt excellent, generally smooth with untouched dark patina, just some very minor pitting on the pommel cap. The original wooden grip is fine but only retains about half of the leather covering, which is very dry, along with a small portion of the twisted wire wrap. The scabbard is probably from a M1840 saber but fits fine and appears to have accompanied it since the period of use. Scabbard with dark patina and some scattered areas of very light pitting, complete with the throat although the screw is missing. Good representative example and very possibly the original scabbard.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
