    Skinner's Kit, High-end, very unique and from the height of the buffalo hunting era, 1870s. The wooden box, 7 ½" x 3 ¾" x 1 ¼", is wrapped in leather, expertly stitched decorated with brass tacks, and slotted for four knives and a steel. 1)Very good 9-1/8" skinning knife with ebony panels and steel bolster, 5" blade marked "Beaver Falls/Cutlery Company PA". 2) "Goodell's/STAR/Hunter" (New Hampshire) Bowie knife, shallow clip point, nickel-silver bolster and hollow ebony handle, 10" overall with 5 ¾" blade. 3) Unmarked Bowie knife, nickel-silver bolster with "wolf head" cutout on the hollow ebony handle; rounded coffin shape with "JV [?]" scratched on the bolster; 11" overall with 6" blade. 4) Unmarked Bowie with the same motif as Goodell's (b.), clip point, hollow cocobolo handle, nickel-silver fittings and star decorative rivet, 10 ½" overall with 6" blade. 5) 12" sharpening rod with nickel-silver fittings and full tang, the steel marked "Woods."
