Description
Richards Upson & Company U.S. Officers' Sword, Circa 1808. 33 ¾-inch curved blade with wide fullers on each side. Obverse ricasso marked "Richards Upson / & Co. / New York". The blade is decorated with simple engraving including a panoply of arms, mounted horseman, American eagle and foliate designs. Gilded-brass "P" guard hilt with wire-wrapped bone grip. No scabbard.Condition: About very good. Blade with an overall smooth gray patina and a few nicks in the cutting edge. Hilt a bit loose. Traces of the original gilt on the hilt.
