    Description

Pair of American Ivory Knob Sword Canes. Similar in design, each sword features a hardwood body with plain metal tips. Both have ivory knobs and single edge blades, triangular in form. One example has a 24 ½" blade; the other a shorter 15 ½" blade which is marked "D. Klauberg New York". Both examples are in need of attention as they are missing ferrules and one example with not seat properly in the lower section of the cane. The ivory knobs display cracks but have a nice warm patina. Perfect restoration project.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
