    Description

    Northern Cheyenne Spontoon War Tomahawk, c. 1850. The 8" forged iron head is slightly beveled and styled with small fleur-de-lis hooks at the base. The 24" haft is cleverly "hot file" branded creating serrated bands its entire length. Secured with two rows of brass tacks, a buckskin fringe drop is attached to the haft's end. In very good condition with only typical wear from age and handling. The Michael Ward Collection of Western Americana
