    German Silver-Plated Handle Sword Cane.

Overall length is 35 1/2-inches. Repoussé knob, [2 1/2-inch pommel]. Malaka wood shaft and handle and a brass ferrule. The raised ring collar has a button that depresses the lock to reveal a heavy 16 1/2-inch blade that is double edged at its tip. The blade has some of its original bluing and etching on it and is a formidable fighting weapon. This is a slash and thrust weapon relying on the cage shaft as a parrying stick.
Note: There are many books written on fencing and also the use of a weapon like this that measures tip to handle at 22-inches. The weapon has perfect balance. If used correctly, the release catch can act as a blade catcher or breaker. Inexperienced knife and sword fighters are not aware of the maneuvers required to avoid injury.

Condition: Very good for its age. Handling wear present overall. Stress marks to wood in various areas. Blade with mottled gray patina and traces of bluing.
