Fine African Ethnographic Ceremonial Axe. The fine quality Royal Messenger staff ceremonial axe from the Benin [Dahomey] or the Pende [Luba] tribe of Zaire. Wooden haft with copper bands and figure of a bull.The head of the axe with a figural presence with eyes, nose and mouth, the copper blade enhanced with wire scrolls. Length: 21-inches. Condition: Very good with age wear and patina.
