DescriptionEuropean Halberd, Circa Mid-19th Century. The iron head measures approximately 24" long with a curved axe blade measuring 7¼"; 5" thorn and 17" spike. The halberd has an overall length of 8' 3". The 1½" in diameter wooden pole is reinforced with iron straps to about the midpoint and an iron band with an integral lanyard ring is mounted about 53" up the pole. The pole has a 4" copper ferrule at the base. There are no maker's marks or markings of any kind visible. A bit of spotting to the metal surfaces, otherwise in very good condition.
