    Description

Early Days Patent Underhammer Curiosa Gun.

Overall length is 24 1/2-inches. This under-hammer percussion cane is stamped DAYS PATENT on the surface of its handle. The gun will cock extremely well by pulling back and down on a round striker on the underneath of the barrel, this also forces a trigger which when released allows the striker to hit a percussion cap that would be placed on the exposed percussion nipple. There is a nickel silver band in front of the striker and also an aiming bead at the front of the barrel. The heavy brass horse head handle unscrews but has a set screw that aligns it with the trigger mechanism. Note: The weight of the handle suggests that this was also used as a Truncheon or mace.

Condition: Good to very good with mottled gray patina overall. Some nicks and mars to metal. Some surface rust to protected areas. Toning present. Bore good, but dark.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
