    One Of The Finer Examples Known, Brass Scabbard, Thomas Griswold & Co. New Orleans, Confederate Artillery Officer's Saber. 31 1/2" curved blade with light gray patina and absolutely no rust, pitting edge nicks or stains. Characteristic ricasso with the fuller extending slightly into the top. The blade is unmarked, but unquestionably the work of Griswold. Retains the original leather washer. Classic brass hilt with distinctive pommel cap about perfect with nice light patina. Leather wrapped grip and twisted brass wire wrap also about perfect with just one tiny flake in the leather wrap. Brass scabbard showing a with the ring mounts and drag a slightly brighter brass color also about perfect with nice patina and absolutely no dents or dings along with original throat. Ring mounts show a few tiny casting flaws. A beautiful Confederate sword. Ex-Steve Hess Collection.
