M1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber WALSCHEID / SOLINGEN Blade excellent with light gray patina and scattered, old, very light, surface rust very easily cleaned, absolutely no nicks or pitting. Marked WALSCHEID / SOLINGEN on the reverse ricasso. Hilt perfect with dark untouched patina. Leather grip with brass wire wrap near perfect with just one small chip in the leather. Scabbard about perfect with no dents or pitting and just scattered surface old rust over what appears to be the vestiges of a very old nickle finish, mixing with brown patina. Really a very fine sword just in need of a good hand cleaning.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
