    Lot of Two European Short Swords.
    Comprising: 1.) British Royal Navy Midshipman's Dirk. 17 1/4-inch single-edge blade; 22-inches overall. Gilded-brass hilt, lion's head pommel and back strap, and a quillon terminating with acorns at each end. Wire-wrapped white ray skin grips. No visible maker's mark. No scabbard. 2.) Unidentified European short sword. 22 3/4-inch Yataghan-style blade; 28-inches overall. Cast steel hilt. No visible maker's mark. Lacking scabbard.

    Condition: 1.) Good. Blade with a uniform gray appearance, light surface rust and age spotting. Traces of the original gilt on the hilt. 2.) Very good. Modest aging to blade.
