David Mamet's Notes: 1981, 82 & 83 National Knife Collectors Association Commemorative knives. Unused, unsharpened. Very pretty assortment of pinkbone, looks like Sambar stag, and, on the lockback coke bottle, gorgeous dark brown old fashioned stag. Looks like the stag on the 1XL knife I didn't buy. I had, in bygone days, an ancient Case Cokebottle, slim as a reed and perfect to slip into the backpocket. The steel was old mottled grey, and it cut like a sonofagun, and I was never without it til I had to return to New York one year from the country, and couldn't take the knife on the plane. When I rediscovered it, five years later in the pocket of a hunting coat, the old, early plastic grips had outgassed and the knife was a mess.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
