Lot of Four Miscellaneous 19th Century U.S. Military Swords. Including: 1) Mounted officers' sword with a 29" curved blade faintly engraved with a panoply of arms, Federal shield and floral decoration. The blade is marked "Warranted" on the obverse ricasso. Plain brass reverse "P" guard with decorative ferrule. Iron scabbard with two mounting rings. The scabbard has been painted brown at some point. Blade with a mottled gray patina and has occasional nicks in the cutting edge. Good condition. 2) Model 1852 Naval officers' sword with a 26" slightly curved blade dated "1852" on the obverse ricasso and "P / R.B.H." on the reverse ricasso. Brass hilt retaining approximately 15% original gilding, sharkskin grips with wire wrapping. Hilt slightly loose on the blade. Blade with a smooth dark patina. Sold with leather scabbard with brass mounts. Rather crude drag affixed to the scabbard with a modern tape repair. Good condition. 3) Roby Manufactured 1860 Cavalry saber dated 1865. Slightly curved blade measures 35" and exhibits minor discoloration from scabbard storage. One of the branches of the knuckle guard is broken but the grip is complete with leather covering and wire wrap. Scabbard with a few shallow dents and surface oxidation, otherwise a good representative example with a wartime date. 4) Attractive officers' sword marked Horstmann Brother, with a 29 ½" slightly curved blade etched with a panoply of arms and other floral decoration. Simple, but elegant brass hilt with fish skin covered grip wrapped in copper wire. Leather scabbard with brass mounts. Very good condition.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
