Late 18th or Early 19th Century European Dragoon Sword. The sword features a 35 ¼" straight blade with two narrow fullers running to near the beginning of the false edge. The obverse ricasso is stamped with a crown over a number 6. The reverse ricasso has a spurious "POTTER / N. YORK" stamp. Iron hilt with pierced counter guard and half-basket guard. The grip has been re-wrapped. The blade has a smooth mottled-gray patina with areas of light surface rust. The blade and hilt are coated with lacquer, an attempt by a previous collector to protect the metal surfaces. Overall, an interesting sword in very good condition.
