    Large Antique English Spear-Point Bowie Knife by Briggs, London, Together with Scabbard. Having a straight 12-inch spear-point blade, with 5-inch back edge and etched on both sides with a floral scroll panel. Below the panel is a family crest with a swan, in nest, feeding its young and below, the script monogram A.P, Ricasso marked: BRIGGS/LONDON. The reverse with a red, fingernail polish applied Numeral 8. [Robert Abels, noted collector style of inventory marking, with red fingernail polish]. Ornate straight steel crossguard of ovoid form, laminated with scroll-engraved German silver panels and having spool-shaped finials. Steel edges engraved with zig-zag patterns. Floral-scroll engraved German silver ferrule. One-piece stag antler grip with scroll-engraved German silver pommel cap with mushroom-shaped finial. Contained in accompanying black leather scabbard, the German silver mounts engraved en suite. Belt stud on heart-shaped escutcheon on reverse side. Condition: Very good. Blade retains much of its original polish, now with scattered patches of fine pitting, confined mostly to forward portion of blade. Hilt excellent with light age patina. Scabbard showing light wear, minor repair to tip and minor scratches overall.
