    Very Nice Group Of Three Civil War Period Bowie Knives. Knives as follows: 9 1/2" overall with 53/4" wide spearpoint blade with median ridge. The blade generally just smooth and clean with some light gray patina and a tiny patch of very light pitting on the reverse ricasso. The Obverse ricasso is marked I*XL / Geo. Wostenholm and the reverse depicts a rider on horseback. Heavy German silver bolster, the cross guard terminating in points. Ivory plaque grips fastened with four German silver pins with elongated oval escutcheon inlaid on the obverse. One small repair at upper right corner of reverse, else excellent with nice mellow patina. The scabbard is an interesting period replacement made of heavy brown leather, stitched along the sides with the belt loop tab decorated with copper rivets and two 2 1/2" slits to accept the belt. Their is a pierced brass scroll/floral decoration riveted to the face of the scabbard and 'ears' that fit behind the cross guard also decorated with copper rivets. Scabbard in good sound condition.; 8 1/2" overall with spear point blade with unusual triangular shaped ricasso. Blade generally smooth and clean with no rust, pitting or nicks. Marked on the ricasso on both sides "I*XL / George Wostenholm / Celebrated / Cutlery". Heavy german silver bolster integral with oval cross guard. Perfect condition stag plaque grips with German slender German silver escutcheon pinned to the obverse side. Original black Moroccan leather scabbard decorated with gilt embossing along the edges and scroll work in the center, excellent sound condition. German Silver throat and tip with round frog stud. Tip with just a couple of tiny dents else perfect with round frog stud at throat. A very nice little Civil War period dirk.; 9 1/2" overall with 6" spearpoint blade with median ridge. Blade in fine clean condition and marked on the ricasso "Manhattan / Cutlery Compy / Sheffield". Oval German silver cross guard. Stag/antler plaque grips perfect with nice patina. Front stitched brown leather scabbard about perfect with embossed pebbled decoration. Fabricated without throat or tip. Belt loop tab with two 2 1/8" slits to mount the belt. Scabbard itself about mint with the belt loop tab showing some honest wear and some scuffing. Nice knife and a nice group. From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
