    U.S. Navy 1861 Dated Dahlgren Knife and Scabbard by Ames. 12-inch polished clip point blade with sharpened back edge. Ricasso with 1861 date. Reverse marked, "AMES MFg. Co./CHICOPEE/MASS." Brass guard with integral muzzle ring and single turned-down quillon. Hardwood and brass grip with bayonet stud channel and lanyard opening. Contained in brass and leather scabbard. Belt stud on throat. Condition: Good. Blade with fine scratches and scattered stains. Signs of an old cleaning. Brass brilliant with scattered fine dents and scratches. Grip retaining approximately 70-80% varnish. keeper spring and release button absent. Small crack above top finger groove. Pommel cap with numerous dents. Scabbard very good with all stitching tight and strong. Leather with only minor scuffs. Brass brilliant with light age wear and patina.
