Silver Mounted Sheffield Folding Knife C. 1850. 12 1/2" overall with 5 1/2" spear point double edged blade. Blade with smooth gray patina and just some very minor scattered salt and peppering. No maker's mark visible on the rudimentary ricasso. 1 7/8" X 2 1/8" silver bolster with snake crossguard and snake head quillons. Embossed leaf design with the head of a mythological creature in the center surrounded by a semicircle design. Mother of pearly plaque grips with delicate floral engraving, one crack but no loss, easily repaired. 1" X 1 3/8" pommel decorated with scrollwork and the head of what appears to be a wolf. Mountings and grips about perfect with just untouched patina. While retaining the internal spring the knife is missing the locking mechanism. Still a very nice scarce mid 19th century 'folder'.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
