    San Francisco-Type Dress Bowie Knife In The Style of Hugh McConnell. 5 3/4-inch polished steel spearpoint blade with false back edge. Oval stacked steel guard with down-turned quillons. Fine hardwood grip panels with mother-of-pearl ferrule and pommel. Each panel with mother-of-pearl inlays: the left side with the initials LJ. Right panel a starburst motif. Overall length: 10 1/2-inches. Contained in brown leather scabbard with german steel throat and tip. Front of throat with initials: LJ. Reverse with belt loop. McConnell worked in San Francisco in the early 1850s.

    Condition: Fine. Blade with signs of having been polished. Hairline crack to both grip panels. Scabbard: Very good with light age wear and patina. Minor dents to throat and tip. Old repair to front seam.
