David Mamet's Notes: Randall Aviator 7 1/2-inch blade, stainless steel, finger-grooved grips. An example from the 70's, I believe, of a beautiful Randall knife. My dad was involved in Cape Canaveral, from the very beginning of the space program. And every time I went down with him from Chicago he would say "could have bought that lot for (over the years) five hundred bucks (later) five thousand bucks (not too much later) fifty thousand bucks. He could in short, have owned Orlando, where there was in the fifties, not much of anything to save the Space Program and Bo Randall's knifeshop. I have owned a lot of his and Gary's knives over the years, and have even included the ship (with their permission) in the lyrics of a country song ("Army Brat").
    "Pretty little long-legged Army Brat,
"Turned into a woman just like that,
"Who's that knocking on my door?
"Young Sergeant, what did you come here for?
"And what would you give if I'd be your wife?
"'Hardship post and a Randall knife.'"
I think my wife, Rebecca Pidgeon, recorded the song on one of her C.D.'s. Anyway, I am rather proud of the lyric.
