    Pristine Condition, Superb Quality, Silver Cutlery Handle Sheffield Bowie Knife with period ID to a Civil War surgeon. 11 1/2" overall with absolutely mint 7" clipped point blade with 4" false edge. Deeply marked on the ricasso "R. Bunting/& Son/Sheffield" with a spread wing eagle above. Oval German silver cross guard. Swirled silver cutlery handle widening near the pommel with extensive scroll and shell motifs, also mint. Black Moroccan leather covered scabbard with German silver mounts, missing frog stud else mint. No dents on the mounts, no scuffs on the scabbard. Nicely embossed on both sides with gilt decoration and on the obverse displays gilt embossed "Surgeon" in old English letters / "Acad Park" in block letters below and location ....Town (N. J. ). Doubtless completely decipherable with careful effort and research. An absolutely beautiful knife with unique Civil War period ID.
