    Etched French Knife by Vauthier with Mother of Peal Handle.

    Approximately 16 1/2-inches overall. Having a 10-inch blade fully etched throughout. A great scene lightly etched mostly having a countryside scene with a hunting flair - background. Blade also marked/stamped VAUTHIER, RUE / LAUPHINE No. 40 / PARIS. German silver ferrule with molded sides. Stocked with an incredible sheep's head bust, accented with flair and done exclusively in Mother of Pearl. Green covered wooden scabbard, of later vintage but clearly made for it at a later time. Knife blade is thin on composition, but shows well. Noted French maker Vauthier, usually produced best quality edged weapons. Blade and handle possibly combined at a later time. Overall weight of knife is 8-ounces.

    Condition: Good to very good. Blade a dark overall patina, etching light but pronounced and visible, as is the markings on it. Some corrosion to tip area. Handle with age wear, toning and some light imperfections, marks. Scabbard good.
