Group Of Three Civil War Period Silver Cutlery Handle Bowie Knives / Dirks. Group is as follows: the largest is 11 1/2" overall with 7" blade with clipped point and 4" false edge. Blade generally bright and clean with a few scattered areas of salt and peppering and a couple of tiny spots of very light pitting. Maker marked on the obverse ricasso "Edward / Barnes & Son / Celebrated / Dirk Knife". Oval German silver cross guard. Scroll decorated silver cutlery handle with scrolled clamshell like pommel excellent, with just a few very minor dents. The original maroon Moroccan leather covered scabbard is near perfect with just a few scuffs and gilt embossed decoration along the edges, with a scroll motif in the center. German silver throat with round frog stud and German silver tip both about perfect. A very nice knife with very desirable markings.; 11 1/8" overall with 6 1/8" clipped point blade with 4 1/4" false edge. Blade generally smooth and light gray with just a couple of small areas of salt and peppering on the obverse. Marked on the obverse ricasso "Best English Cutlery" Oval German silver cross guard. The silver handle is one of the most elaborate we've ever seen and is completely covered with deep intertwined scrollwork with protruding scroll work at the pommel. Overall about perfect. The original scabbard has been recovered with thin black leather but retains the original German silver tip and throat which are perfect with the exception that the frog stud is lacking.; 11" overall with 6 1/8" spear point blade with median ridge. Blade about mint and marked on the reverse ricasso. Somewhat difficult to read as it is rather lightly struck but appears to be "Plancard / Peacroft / Sheffield." Interesting this knife utilizes the absolutely identical silver handle as the previously described knife in near perfect condition with just a few very minor dents. The scabbard is of brown leather and back stitched. Retains the riveted base of the belt loop although the loop is missing. German silver tip with fluting/line decoration and missing what was apparently a small German silver throat. Very nice group. From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
