    Exceptional Mexican (or French) Court Sword. 28" epee style bright blade with sparse and very simple etched decoration. No maker mark present. Ornate gilded-brass hilt, lacking knuckle bow, extensively decorated with floral scroll. The handle is inset with longitudinal nickel-silver bands. Similar bands are inset on the obverse counter guard, obverse quillon, with thin bands at the base of the pommel, below the quillon and as a pommel cap. Mexican (or French) eagles are prominently displayed on the obverse counter guard and pommel. A beautiful sword lacking knuckle bow, as noted, and sold without a scabbard.
