    Description

Desirable Form American Revolutionary War Officer's Saber With Original Scabbard. The sword is overall totally untouched with wonderful equivalent patina. 31" curved blade with three narrow fullers along the top edge. Tiny chip broken off the tip, some scattered areas of surface rust and light pitting, but overall excellent. The all brass hilt utilizes a ball pommel with very prominent capstan. The guard is, unusually, round faced, and splits just below the pommel into three branches. The second branch is cracked at the top and the outboard branch is broken and missing. Else the hilt is excellent with four spokes in the guard. The grip is covered with heavy brown leather with wide spirals and two strands of twisted brass wire. Grip excellent, with just the stitched seam beginning to open up. The original leather scabbard is in excellent sound condition, with some surface crackling to the finish, but no flaking. Brass tip with tooth like serrated edge along the top, original leather frog covering a 3" brass throat. The frog was obviously originally attached to an over the shoulder sling. A wonderful American Revolutionary War saber, with the, obviously very old, damage to the outboard branch easily restored.
