    Description

    Indo-Persian Knife.
    Curved 14-inch blade with swelled mid section. Fine gold inlay throughout with ancient design. Wood scabbard wrapped in leather. Interesting design, similar to that of a massive Kukri (or Kookeri) style. Motifs throughout with various characteristics and decorations. Overall length approximately 18-inches. Note: This item is lot number 3519 on the Invoice from International Studio Art Division, The Hearst Corp. of which a photocopy is included in the sale. According to consignor and paperwork provided, this item was obtained by Shirley Temple Black from the Hearst warehouse in 1963 to complement her decorating and collecting habits. On the form, the item states, "Dagger, India, XVIII Century. Curved, slightly Scrolled Steel Handle, Floral Decorations inlaid in Gold. Blade with Motifs outlined in Gold. Leather Scabbard L.18 1/4".

    Condition: Very good for its age. Most of wear from handling and storage. Most gold inlay on blade present with minor losses. Handle with moderate wear and losses. Some surface rust present near top of handle. Dark patina throughout. Scabbard with minor losses and separations.
