American Silver Mounted Naval Dirk C. 1815. Another example of this generic dirk generally attributed to the Baltimore/Philadelphia area. 9 7/8" overall with plain double edged 5 3/4" blade with median ridge. Blade about perfect with only one or two areas of salt and peppering. Classic all silver hilt with engraved serrations along the bottom edge of the guard. Hilt also about perfect. Silver scabbard with large frog stud decorated with a four petaled flower. Scabbard itself covered on the face with floral/scroll engraving, the reverse is plain with the exception of an incised line near the throat. Scabbard also about perfect. A really choice example of the scarce and desirable early American silver Naval dirk.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
