Civil War US M1850 Staff & Field Officer's Sword. 32" Klingenthal blade with European proofs at the base and script maker's logo on the back of the blade. Blade generally smooth and gray with no rust, pitting or nicks. Etching somewhat worn but includes floral and scroll work with arms panoplies and large US on obverse. Similar motifs with large arms panoply in the center on the reverse. Regulation hilt about perfect with fine detail. Sharkskin grip with some spots of honest wear but very good with original wire wrap. There is a black and gold bullion knot attached. Steel scabbard excellent with dark smooth patina and just one small dent. Plain brass mounts with brass carrying rings. The two upper mounts and throat are perfect. The lower mount with a number of dents and a 1 1/2" split at one side, easily repaired. The drag shows considerable honest wear on the bottom. Good representative example of this rather scarce and desirable regulation Civil War officer's sword.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
