Civil War US M1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber By Sheble & Fisher, Philadelphia. Blade generally smooth and clean with just some scattered staining. No rust, pitting or nicks. Nicely marked on the reverse ricasso, "SHEBLE & FISHER / PHILADA" and retains the original scalloped edge buff leather washer, identical to those found on swords by Justice. M1840 style hilt about perfect with nice patina. The leather on the grip has been rewrapped and the twisted brass wire reapplied, else the sword is complete and original in every respect. Scabbard is excellent with just a few minor scattered shallow dents and generally a smooth gray patina with no rust or pitting. Nice example with the grip requiring some skilled TLC.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
