    Civil War Period US M1840 Light Artillery Saber The reverse ricasso marked: U. S. / J. H. / 186( ) Obverse unmarked with knucklebow marked with numeral 25. Wire-wrapped black leather grip, excellent, near perfect. Blade excellent with generally smooth light light patina, nor rust pitting or nicks and just a couple of small areas of salt and peppering. Scabbard excellent with no dents, rust or pitting and generally smooth gray patina. Nice representative example of a Civil War period M1840 artillery saber.
