Chilean Naval Officers' Sword Based on the British 1827 Pattern, Circa Early to Mid 10th Century. 29 ½-inch slightly curved blade, 34 ½-inches overall. The blade is etched with foliate designs and the star over anchor design of the Chilean navy. The reverse ricasso has the six-pointed star proof with brass inset. No maker's marks present on the obverse ricasso. The gilded-brass guard terminates in a lion's head pommel. The sword has a folding and locking counter guard and the Chilean navy star and anchor insignia is cast into the guard. The grips are fish skin with wire wrapping. The sword is complete with the leather scabbard with brass mounts. The sword is accompanied by two gilded-brass sword belt hangers, each with the Chilean navy emblem.

Condition: Very good. The blade remains reasonably bright with a hint of storage wear and one small nick in the cutting edge; there is a small area of loss to the fish skin wrap on the grip; the scabbard is lacking the locking mechanism for the counter guard.
