Boyle & Gamble Confederate Foot Officers' Sword.
29 ¼-inch slightly curved blade with unstopped fullers running to within 11 ½-inches to the tip. There is some faint etching on the blade mostly obscured by rust pitting, though a faint "C.S.A." is just visible on the obverse side. Brass guard with rose designs. The pommel cap bears an ivy pattern on the forward edge. Underside of guard stamped "25" but no stamp on the pommel cap. The scabbard is missing a 2 ¾-inch section between the lower mount and the tip. An old note written in white on the obverse side of the scabbard reads "Boyle Gamble & Macfee - Richmond, VA. / Foot Officers Sabre Scabbard / C.S.". This may indicate the sword was married to this scabbard at a later date.

Condition: Good. The blade has significant pitting and an overall dark patina. The handle is missing the leather wrap. The pommel is loose on the tang. The scabbard is as previously described.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
