Beautiful Kingdom of Hungary Officer's Presentation-Grade Sword, Circa Mid-19th Century.
32-inch curved blade, 1 1/4-inches wide at the hilt gradually narrowing to the point. Wide fullers on either side of the blade extending from the hilt terminating 6-inches from the tip. 1-inch clipped point. The obverse side of the blade is ornately etched with the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Hungary and various floral designs; the reverse side etched with a panoply of arms and floral designs. The top of the blade bears an inscription in French which appears to read: "d pres: [illegible] Walcher Forbisseur d' vienne". Cast gilded-brass hilt with slight P-shaped knuckle bow. Obverse side of grip with Kingdom of Hungary coat-of-arms and various foliate and floral designs; the reverse side with foliate and floral designs only. Lion's head pommel. Single quillon terminates in a small lion's head. The gilded-brass scabbard features panels of incised floral and foliate designs, with two mounting rings. A most uncommon sword.

Condition: Very good. The hilt retains much of the original gilt finish. The guard and grip are loose on the tang. The blade has a smooth gray patina with a few minor nicks in the cutting edge. The scabbard has a few shallow dents and lacks the throat.
