    American Eaglehead Officer's Straight Sword C. 1830. 31 1/2" straight blade generally smooth and gray, no nicks rust or pitting, undecorated. The hilt is the classic 1821 form with spread wing eagle and shield surrounded by a wreath on the guard, scroll work knucklebow, nice slender eaglehead and flat quillon. The wood grip with l 3/8" leaf embossed ferrule at the base is probably a period replacement. Plain brass scabbard with a few scattered dents, with two carrying rings, made without ring mounts, and nicely decorated frog stud. The tip of the scabbard with a decorated finial. There is no throat.
